Pro Bono Work
College counseling can be a game-changer—but the families who need it most are often the ones least able to access it.
That's something I think about a lot, and it's why pro bono work is a meaningful part of what I do at Kismet.
Each year, I take on one to two students at no cost. These are high-achieving students with real potential who, for financial or other reasons, wouldn't otherwise have access to the kind of personalized, long-term support that Kismet provides. The process looks the same as it does for any Kismet student — building a strong college list, crafting a compelling application, and finding the right fit.

Who I typically work with
There's no single formula, but students I consider for pro bono support generally have a combination of the following:
A real story, not necessarily a perfect record—I believe that even when life hands you lemons, you should still have access to the people and tools that help you make something of it
Financial need — a family income that makes private consulting out of reach
Limited access to robust school-based college counseling
A genuine desire to engage in the process and advocate for themselves
